Description
IBE Consulting Engineers’ Advanced Technologies Group is
seeking a building energy analyst with 3 – 6 years of building and energy
modeling experience. Understanding the interrelationships between building
systems, program and architectural components is critical to aiding design
teams and owners in making informed decisions in the design process. IBE is
looking for dedicated applicants who have experience in breaking down complex
architectural and building system components to be modeled with currently
available tools and report back to the design team with clear and concise
reporting. Join our sustainable design oriented design team that provides
building design solutions for progressive clients and architecture: complete
preliminary energy analysis, energy audits, detailed system analysis, and
prepare reports and studies outlining the benefits of specific system types and
energy conservation measures. Key
areas of Responsibilities
·
Perform energy modeling, evaluation of building systems (HVAC,
electrical and plumbing), and life-cycle-cost analysis; (using programs such as
TRACE 700, IES, eQuest) ·
Provide clear and well-written memorandums, and reports to the
design team regarding project specific energy performance and modeling results;
·
Provide simulation model input data from 3D sources such as Revit,
Rhino and Google Sketchup ·
Perform basic CFD modeling using programs such as IES and Design
Builder. ·
Provide Thermal Comfort analysis of spaces in accordance with
ASHRAE Std. 55 using programs such as ROOM or TRNSYS ·
Provide life cycle cost analyses of systems using BLCC or similar ·
Prepare analyses, calculations and reports to support USGBC LEED
components; ·
Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure engineering quality
and accurate technical content of project-related documents; ·
Meet / contact clients as appropriate to discuss energy analysis
methods, results and recommendations; Key
Skills Required
·
Strong oral and written communication skills providing clear
explanations and directions to clients and team members. ·
Clear concise, technical writing ·
Strong Planning and organizational skills. ·
Proficient with Microsoft Office. ·
Efficient personal and project task organization and management. ·
3-6 yrs energy modeling experience with DOE-2, IES Virtual
Environment, TRACE, TRNSYS or other detailed hourly simulation; Qualifications
·
4 year Bachelor’s Degree ·
3 – 6 years of related work as a building energy analyst
conducting full building analysis. ·
Experience modeling “traditional” building systems as
well as active beams, radiant floors, thermal energy storage, on site renewable
energy, geothermal. Preferred:
·
Demonstrated experience with simulation software programs such as
Ecotect, Radiance and computational fluid dynamic software. BIM experience
preferable (Revit Digital Projects or 3D modeling programs) ·
LEED Accredited Professional and previous experience participating
in the LEED or other green rating system process. ·
