Re: [TRNSYS-users] Minimization.

Didier,
  I assume that you are working from the example of using GenOpt and TRNSYS with Type56 (http://sel.me.wisc.edu/trnsys/demos/genopt-type56.pdf). If not, that will give you some good direction.

  If I understand correctly what you are trying to do, you need to identify the material properties of your outside wall with variable names that will be replaced by GenOpt in the *.bui file at each simulation run. It might look something like:

*--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*  L a y e r s
*--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LAYER GYPSUM
 CONDUCTIVITY=   2.62 : CAPACITY=   0.75 : DENSITY=   1601
LAYER INSULATION
 CONDUCTIVITY=  %kInsul% : CAPACITY=   %capInsul% : DENSITY=  %rhoInsul%
LAYER STUCCO
 CONDUCTIVITY=   2.49 : CAPACITY=   0.75 : DENSITY=   1858

  You also need to define something to minimize and that will probably not change from the example. The example uses the integrated whole-building annual energy use as its minimization variable. You can follow section 5.2.4 in the *.pdf.
Best,
 david

Hi all,

I want to minimize the total energy-consuming of a building by varying
the thermal characteristics of the outside wall (density, thermal
conductivity and specific heat). I use GenOpt and TRNSYS for that but
I encounter some difficulties. I refered to the given example and I
started with the same building modelisation for my problem.I do not
know how integrate variables for density, thermal conductivity and
specific heat in .bui template file.

Could someone help me please ?

Best regards,

Didier Gossard from France.
