Re: [TRNSYS-users] problem with printer 25/65c

Marius,
Type65 prints the value of outputs at each time step in the simulation. Almost all TRNSYS outputs are the average value over the previous time step. If you use Type25 and tell it to print at the same interval (ie every time step), it should give you the same results as Type65. It sounds from what you describe, however as though TRNSYS is not using quite the same time step that you think it is. It is always best to choose a time step that can be specified as a non repeating decimal (0.1, 0.125, 0.25, etc.). If you want to use a 1 or 5 minute timestep, the safest way to do it is to define an equation:

EQUATIONS 1
DELT = 1/60

and then change your time step specification from "hours" to "string" and enter the name of your equation "DELT." Use "DELT" again when specifying the printing interval in Type25.

I have noticed some problems from time to time when I select "minutes" for the time step designation in Studio because the repeating decimal gets truncated at some point and you end up with a time step that is interpreted as

0.083330

instead of

0.0833333333333333333333333333333....

If none of the above solves the problem please send me the project and I'll see if I can detect the problem.
Best,
 David

Hello everybody.

I have the problem that I use different printer and export their plot in excel, and they do not show the same results.

I use type65c to plot every time step and type25 to plot integrated results in the end.

But the results from type25 are not the same as in type65c!

It seems type25 does not cover the whole simulation time. When I i.e. print the time values with both types, type25 should show only the last value when I do not integrate. Am I right? For short periods like a week it is working, but when I simulate for a longer time, type25 always shows a time value a few hundred hours before the last value of type65c.

Any idea what could cause this? I set the value for the printing interval in type25 to zero, so this type should just plot at the end..

Thanks for your help,

Marius
