Re: [TRNSYS-users] Spam: Re: Problem with Type16

Dear Matt,

I check all of Type16 inputs and parameters, and everything seems good...

When I compare Type16 results with Grenoble Meteonorm data (from TRNSYS Library).
Results are checked in following table:

ITH
[kWh/year]
IT_North
[kWh/year]
IT_South
[kWh/year]
IT_East
[kWh/year]
IT_West
[kWh/year]
Meteonorm
1241.6
383.3
940.8
740.8
749.1
Type16
1239.4
482.0
971.2
1030.5
693.3
Differences
-0.2%
+25.8%
+3.2%
+39.1%
-7.5%

Total Radiation on horizontal and south surfaces seem to be identical , whatever the calculation mode chosen.
Difference is less than 10% for West orientation, which maybe acceptable.
For East and North orientations, total radiation are very different (more than 25% btween the both calculation modes).
Total Radiation on East surface is much more higher than IT West, although values seem to be really close to each other with Meteonorm data.

Being unable to solve that issue, I decide to use Meteonorm data for radiation values calculation in my simulation, which seems to be right.
If someone have an idea...

Best regards

Dear Adrien,

Please make sure that your "solar high noon" in your data matches the "solar high noon" coming out of Type16. This may be an issue with your start time - it could be off by an hour. Also, make sure you are NOT interpolating in Type9 for your radiation data.

Best regards,

Matt Duffy

Subject: [TRNSYS-users] Problem with Type16

Dear TRNSYS users,

I try to use Type16 to obtain solar radiation on each surface (North, South, East, and West) of my building with IBH and IDH given and read by a simple data reader.
The considered building is placed in Grenoble (lat : 45.12° - long 5.42°).
I put those informations in Type16 parameters :
Parameter5 (Latitude) = 45.12 degrees
Parameter7 (Shift in Solar Time) = -15-(-5.42) = -9.58 degrees
Parameter9 (Solar Time) = 1

But beam radiation exceeds extraterrestrial radiation for 25 time-steps during the simulation. This problem occurs only for
East orientation (West orientation if parameter7 is positive) whatever the tilted surface mode (Parameter3).

I have seen in TRNSYS users archive that other people have encountered problem in Type16 use, but I haven't found how to solve that issue.

Any help will be appreciated

Best regards
