Dear Claudia,

Are you talking about layers in Type56?

If yes, I suggest you to run 2 simulations :

     - one with your building wall defined with layers
     - one with building wall defined with only thermal resistances
(use an example if you don't want to create a model)

Compare the results you obtain, to make your own idea about layers goal.
