Re: [TRNSYS-users] PV Example in TRNSYS

Fred,
I'd recommend using Type194 and running the EES plugin (icon down in the lower left hand corner of the parameters tab window). That plugin basically takes information that can be obtained from the manufacturer's sheets and turns it into the parameter list for Type194.

As for validation, there is some evidence that our models overpredict actual PV performance a bit. Its not entirely clear whether this is because the manufacturer's spec sheets are based on ideal conditions in a lab that aren't seen very often in the field or if there is some other cause. However, don't forget the the PV model is just for the panels and that you need to account for electrical losses in the DC bus and in the interverters and power conditioning equipment too.

Kind regards,
David

All,

Does anyone have a validated model of a PV array in TRNSYS? Possibly with some documentation as to what all the parameters and inputs should be. I am trying to create one, but a lot of the parameters and inputs are values that I can't find in panel spec sheets or equivalents in other software. There also does not appear to be a PV example in the TESS examples, only various types of solar thermal systems.
Thanks,

Fred
