[TRNSYS-users] Coupling COMIS & TRNSYS

Dear COMIS users,

An increasing number of users contact me about numerical problems running coupled simulations (using COMIS as a TYPE in TRNSYS).

It appears that a good deal of these problems is simply due to an unfortunate default value used in the graphical environment of COMIS: the default solver used for COMIS by Simulation Studio is solver 1 (Newton). This is a good choice for stand-alone COMIS projects.

For coupled projects, however, solver 6 (trust region line search) is more appropriate.

So if you encounter problems running coupled projects, you should just try to

-          change the solver in the COMIS (*.cpf) project (Assembly/Control cards/Control tab, select “6” under “Solver selector)

-          re-write the COMIS input file (.cif) from the COMIS project (Calculate/Create Input file)

-          Re-run the TRNSYS (.tpf) project
