Re: [TRNSYS-users] Question about type67 and type15s

Yujun,
Although rare, there are some cases in which the solar radiation mathematics break down and you can get values of solar radiation on a surface that exceed the extraterrestrial radiation. It usually happens at sunup or at sundown because there are two very small numbers being divided by one another. I also am aware that some weather files (particularly the IWEC international location files) are more prone to those problems than others. I would say that if you are seeing these warnings at more than about 20 time steps per year, you should contact your distributor directly and see if there is either a problem in the project, or if there is a problem in the weather file.
Kind regards,
 David

Subject: [TRNSYS-users] Question about type67 and type15s

Hello users,
Did someone found a strange phenomena that is : the direct radiation for a surface of 90° slope is greater than its total radiation, or even this direct radiation is greater than the extraterrestrial radiation sometimes in winter in the type15s. If we just watch the type15, its another output "direct normal radiation (not interpolated)" is in sometimes greater than the extraterrestrial radiation. It's strange for me or maybe i don't understand really the solar radiation.
Can someone explain it to me?
Yujun
