Re: [TRNSYS-users] Weather data file

Adrien,
I imagine that it depends a bit on the site. Usually, though, wind speed and direction are not very reliable since in the best circumstances, they are measured at an airport where it is flat and where there are no trees. Still, my feeling is that the data is better than ignoring wind effects completely. If you are trying to assess whether or not a site has good potential for a wind turbine, I would suggest taking the speed data that is in the meteonorm file and putting a multiplier on it so that you check the electricity production that you would get if the wind is 1/2 or 1/3 as good as the data file says.
Kind regards,
 David

Dear TRNSYS users,

I have seen that Meteonorm weather data files provide wind properties (direction and velocity to be more precise). I'd like to know if that data are reliable or not for each site.
Many thanks in advance for your help,

Best regards, Adrien
