Re: [TRNSYS-users] ChillerType 53!

Dear Cagatay,
Type53 reads its own data file and then calls a curve fitting routine to internally produce a performance curve for the chillers. The format of the data that Type53 is expecting is simply a series of n lines each having three entries, an X, a Y, and a Z value. The number of lines in the file is dictated by the value of parameter 5. There should not be any header lines in the data file. The extension of the file (*.dat or *.txt does not matter; Type53 is simply looking for a text file and does not care what extension is used.) I am not sure what the exact problem is but if the above hints do not help, I would suggest contacting your distributor directly.

  1. Is it required to use an extra data reader at all? The chiller type 53 can already read the external file, can?t it?
that is correct. Type53 reads its own data file.
  1. Is also needed to use an integrator for  the simulation? And what kind of printer should be used?
an integrator would be used if you wanted to know total power consumption of the chillers over each day, each month, or over the entire simulation. I would recommend using a combination of Type24 for integrating and Type25 for printing.
  1. Can anyone send me a sample performance data file for Type 53? There is no sample data file in my TRNSYS library:-(
  2. It would be also very nice, if anyone could send me a chiller deck file or the simulation model outlook.
I am not sure whether we have any such data files.

Kind regards,
 David
