Re: [TRNSYS-users] Absorption Chiller <-> MultiZone Building
Pedro,
The way that you get the air stream conditions back into your building
is to open TRNBuild and to define a Ventilation Type in the zone that
receives the air stream. Set the air change rate, humidity, and temperature
of the inlet air to Inputs and when you regenerate your Type56 files and
update the building variable list in IISiBat, you will see those three new
inputs in your project. If you use a fan model and controller to set the
flow of air into your building then you will need to define an equation
that converts the mass flow rate of air from the fan into an air change
rate for Type56. You can make as many Ventilation Types in your building as
you want. If you are using Type5 to model a water to air heat exchanger,
remember to use a Type33 and bypass the humidity ratio of air around the
heat exchanger and to check for condensation at the outlet of the heat
exchanger.
At to your question about the absorption chiller model, Type7 provides
Qcool. I think you will have to write an equation
Tout = Tin - Qcool/(mdot*Cp)
in order to calculate the outlet condition of your water. You will have to
be a bit careful in your application of Type7 since it has a built-in
control algorithm that might not be appropriate to your case. I recommend
having a look at the Type7 mathematical description before you get too far.
I might also mention that Type7 doesn't exist in TRNSYS 16 but has been
replaced by one of the absorption chillers that is in the TESS Libraries.
If you have access to the TRNSYS 15 TESS HVAC Library, you might look at
Types 676-681 as these model single and double effect hot water fired,
direct fired, and steam fired absorption chillers and contain inputs and
outputs for all of the relevant streams.
Cheers,
David

Dear TRNSYS users,
I'm a beginner in TRNSYS and I'm still using version 15 trying to
simulate a building AC.
In this moment, my problem is how to connect the absorption chiller (Type
7) and the multizone building (type 56).
My idea is use a intermediate air/water heat exchanger, for example Type
5, and connect the chiller to the cold side and the Type56 to the hot
side. But the problem is that, at one hand, there isn't any output of the
chiller with the temperature and flow rate of chilled water, that I should
link at the inputs of Type 5, and in the other hand, there isn´t any input
of Type56 for inlet air stream information. So it's impossible to do this
kind of link.
Could you be so kind and give me some help in this subject.
Thanks in advance!
