Re: [TRNSYS-users] about open window in building
Raj,
There are a number of ways that you can model an open window. The
simplest approach is to define a zone air change rate of infiltration for
when the window is open and then use a model (forcing function,
controller, etc.) to determine whether the window is open or closed at
any given point in the simulation. That of course leads to the question
of how to determine an appropriate air change rate when the window is
open... there are two methods for dealing with that; one uses a TRNSYS
link with CONTAM, the other uses a TRNSYS link with COMIS. The CONTAM
link is built into the standard TRNSYS 16 package. Basically, you
download CONTAM from the NIST website (it's free), assemble your building
model in CONTAM and export that model as a *.air file. You then add
Type97 to your TRNSYS simulation. Type97 is a Fortran implementation of
CONTAM that calculates interzonal and infiltration flow of air in the
building. The flow rates calculated by Type97 are passed to Type56 while
zone temperatures are passed back to Type97. If you decide to get into
using CONTAM, I'd recommend getting the latest TRNSYS version (16.1) as
it has an enhanced version of Type97 that allows you to modify the CONTAM
air flow model as the simulation is running instead of only allowing you
to use a static air flow model as was the case in the 16.0 release.
Kind regards,
David

Hello all,
I want to simulate buiding(TYPE 56) with
open window (window without glazing).
Is it possible?. If so, kindly explain me.
In another case, I find
window(no glazing) type in window library, winid=10001and it is mentioned
that U value is 5.8 W/m^2K. So I am getting difference in outside and
inside sol air temperature of window,if I select win
ID=10001.
Can anyone help me?
