Re: [TRNSYS-users] Type 56w_outfiles

Olympia,

I am working on the TRNSYS simulation of a six-floor building.
I have used the type *type56w_outfiles*.
After simulation I get 3 .plt files. One of them is the monthly symmary

Can someone explain me the exactly meaning of SOLAR_RAD
(Is it a total of shortwave solar radiation transmitted through windows,
radiation transmitted through the envelope etc?)

My understanding is that SOLAR_RAD in the automatic monthly summary is Output NTYPE = 12: QSOLTR, shortwave (solar) radiation transmitted through all external windows in the zone (but not kept 100% in the zone).

This gives you an idea of the solar gains in your zone, but you have to be careful if you want to use that output in energy balances (because of the "not kept 100% in the zone")

The good news is that TRNSYS 16 comes with additional automatic output files with more energy balances than you will ever need, which will spare you that kind of problems.

Kind regards,

Michaël Kummert
